Anyone else wish they had a movie room in their home?! The client’s basement living room was already set up for watching movies, but they wanted to add some personality and coziness. Let’s check out the design inspiration and before & afters of this space.
Mood Board
When thinking about the inspiration for the space, the goal was to incorporate a neutral color palette and warmth. In the mood board below, you’ll see ideas for a vertical slat wall, leather accents, and black and white tones.
Before
The clients had previously done work in their basement and created a movie room in this living space. They already had the projector installed and built the long live edge table under the screen, but were wanting to add new furniture and decor pieces to better fit their style.
After
The long wall with the projector was needing something, and this vertical shiplap wall turned out beautifully. The paneling was painted a darker color – Tricorn Black, which created depth to the wall.
Before
The bump out on the right side of the room contains utilities. With the white door, it previously stood out and felt odd since it didn’t lead anywhere.
After
By painting the wall and door the same color as the rest of the wall, it seems to disappear. Now this room feels much more intentional and cozy. Even the cute pup agrees!
A vertical slat installation was another design element that got added to this room. The wood complements the live edge table and creates another stunning accent wall in this space.
