It has been so fun coming up with a gender neutral nursery design and registry for our sweet Willababy! In August, we announced that a baby will be joining our family in early February. We can’t wait!
Since we’re not finding out what we’re having, the goal was to find neutral pieces for both the nursery and registry. As someone who loves to plan and research, this was a fun process for me, but it also felt overwhelming since there are so many options out there. After spending hours researching on Pinterest and asking friends, I’m sharing my ideas with you!
Gender Neutral Nursery
We plan to turn our current guest room into the nursery. That means we’ve been hustling to finish our basement bedroom, which will become the new space for guests. Once the carpet is installed in early November, we’ll be getting to work on the nursery and I can’t wait! When thinking about the design for the nursery, I wanted it to feel like it fit in with the rest of our home and work within that style. In the mood board below, you’ll see a sage green paint color that is already in the room, leather and rattan accents, and an overall cozy feel.
Here are the elements we’ll be adding to the nursery:
- Leather Rocking Chair
- Wood Convertible Crib
- 6 Drawer Double Dresser
- Rattan Light Fixture
- Hand Drawn Tapestry Map
- Muslin Fitted Crib Sheet

Gender Neutral Registry
When it came to the registry, I knew that we wanted to make sure to choose quality, neutral items that would last. We plan on having more kiddos, so we definitely want to keep using these items for years to come! A couple of my friends have used BabyList for their registries, and I love how I am able to add items from any store. Once I created our own registry, I realized how easy it was to curate it and share the registry with family and friends.
Here are some of my favorite gender neutral items:
*Since our baby girl was born in January, I’ve updated the items below with descriptions on what I love about each of them!
Transportation
- Ergobaby Omni 360 Carrier | This is perfect for hikes, around the house, or walks in the neighborhood. We have used in so much and highly recommend.
- Parker Baby 4 in 1 Carseat Cover | If you’re looking for a good multi-use purchase, this is it. We’ve used it as a nursing cover, car seat cover, and little blanket.
- Nuna Demi Grow Stoller in Frost – We ended up getting the Mockingbird Single to Double stroller and LOVE it. It was a way to save on some costs and pairs well with the Pipa Car seat below with a simple adapter.
- Nuna Pipa Lite LX Car Seat | Even though it’s pricier, we really love this car seat. It’s super lightweight and has stood up well over the past 7 months.
- Diaper Bag Backpack | I like this backpack a lot because it has a lot of compartments and can store tons.
Baby Gear
- Boba Baby Wrap Carrier | We love this carrier for around the house. It’s soft, but has good support. I used this tutorial to figure out how to wrap it.
- Snuggle Me Organic Baby Lounger | Highly recommend!! We used this so much in those first few months.
- Graphite 2-in-1 Rocker | This came in handy so many times to allow us to be hands free for a bit. It’s lightweight and easy to store, so it will be nice to have it out of the way and ready for future kiddos too.
- Activity Gym & Play mat | Super cute and used it often for play time!
Feeding
- Organic Cotton Burp Cloths | These are our favorites! They are really soft and a great size for throwing over your shoulder and cleaning up messes.
- Mushie Silicone Suction Plate
- Mushie Silicone Snack Cup
- Mushie Silicone Baby Bib
- Boppy Nursing Pillow | I used this every single day in the beginning of our breastfeeding journey and have since used it to help her sitting up and for tummy time.
- Table Baby High Chair
Bath Time + Diapering
- Baby Bathtub | We’ve really liked this because it can grow with them.
- Hairbrush and Comb Set | This has been perfect for brushing her hair in all stages of growth.
- Elephant Towel Wrap | So cute and cozy! It’s been a great towel.
- Diaper Caddy
- Baby Changing Basket
- Diaper Pail
Toys
- Wooden Rattle Rollers
- Wooden Toy Set
- Building Blocks
- Baby Teether Toy
- Wooden Teether Toy
- Stacking Rings
Clothes
- Cotton Linen Romper
- Solid Romper Bodysuit
- Knotted Newborn Gown
- 5 Pack Neutral Bodysuit
- Sun Onesie Jumpsuit
- Light Green Zipper Romper
- Rainbow Knotted Sleeping Gown and Hat
- Winter Newborn Set
We can’t wait to welcome our sweet babe into the world! Mamas – what would you add to this registry? Let me know in the comments or over on IG. And stay tuned on Instagram for more behind the scenes and updates as we get the nursery ready for his or her arrival.
Other Favorites to Add
Now that our baby girl Saylor is 7 months old, there are a couple of items I wanted to add to this post:
- Hatch sound machine: LOVE this, easy to bring for travel – nightlight and sound machine in one
- Nose Frida: This is WAY better than the bulb in our opinion!
- Crib Sheet: Love this brand of crib sheet – really anything from this brand is amazing!!
- Highchair: We recently got this once she started eating and have liked it a lot. Pretty aesthetic and easy to clean!
- Outdoor Blanket: We’ve used this so much! Washes off easily and folds up nicely – even brought it to Alaska!
- Bottle + Pump Cleaning Kit: I like this because it’s smaller and I can tuck it away when not in use so I don’t always have something on the counter.
- Travel Sound Machine: We’ve used this a ton on road trips, at church, whenever we’re on the go and she needs a nap!
- Nail Filer: So much easier than clippers so you don’t accidentally cut them!
