Basements are some of my favorite spaces to design, and this classic modern basement project was no different! The clients worked with Positive Solutions on the build-out of the project, and they did an amazing job. Before we get into the reveal of this space, let’s start with the designs.
Design
Mood Board
For this basement, our goal was to incorporate classic finishes with modern elements. Since it is a walkout basement, the clients planned to use LVP for the flooring. They also wanted to add a wet bar and bring a chevron pattern to the staircase carpet.
Selections
Once we worked through the initial inspiration, we moved into the material selections for the space. The design included a mix of black and gold finishes, warmer wood tones, and a natural color palette.
Floor Plan
In the floor plan below, you’ll see how the fireplace wall was designed to include shelves on either side. On the wall shared with the bedroom, a wet bar would add storage and provide space for a sink and beverage fridge. The bathroom has a 36″ vanity with a toilet and large shower.
Renderings
To get a feel for what the space would look like before construction even began, we created renderings to show the clients the design.

And now time for the reveal!
Living Room
The living room fireplace wall turned out beautifully! Walnut wood planks are paired with a slate looking tile surrounding the long linear fireplace. Floating shelves on either side provide a spot for decor.
How cozy does this space look? A sectional provides ample seating for the family of three to cozy up and watch a movie or plenty of space to host family and friends as well.
This fireplace truly has a classic modern feel that will look beautiful for years to come.
Wet Bar
Over on the other side of the living room, the wet bar steals the show. Darker gray cabinetry is complemented with gold hardware.
Quartz countertops are paired with Bedrosian’s Allora rhomboid tile in white.
The luxe gold Artesso faucet is so pretty in combination with the walnut shelves above.
Bathroom
In the bathroom, a wood bathroom vanity comes with closed and open storage below. The black faucet ties into the black accents on the vanity for a cohesive look.
For the shower, white hexagon tile plays off the black hexagon floor and shower floor, all from The Tile Shop.
Bedroom
The bedroom has a stunning accent wall painted Pewter Green by Sherwin Williams and is accented with a milk glass and gold three light flush mount.
This space is now the perfect spot for hosting guests and plays into the style of the rest of the basement as well.
