The Deerwood Dream Remodel with Stoltz Remodeling was quite the transformation! This project included a main level and upstairs bathroom remodel. The clients love to entertain, have young kids, and wanted to make the most out of their space, but the current floor plan and look were in need of an update. Let’s check out what the space looked like before!
Deerwood Dream Remodel | Before
With the previous layout of this main level, the kitchen felt cut off from the dining room and living room. Our goal was to open up the space and create better storage solutions and flow throughout.
On the other side of the kitchen, our plan was to remove the pantry and build out a mudroom area complete with lockers and a bench since this is the landing spot coming in from the garage.
In the living room, the plan was to open up the doorway for a more open concept feel and update the fireplace with stone to the ceiling.
The Design
For the design, our goal was to bring in a natural feel with green tones, wood elements, and a mix of metals. Having materials that would perform well with young kids was also a priority in this project.
Renderings are always such a helpful tool for clients to be able to visualize what their space will look like before construction begins and also helps us make decisions as well. Here’s the renderings of the main level:
Deerwood Dream Remodel | After
Kitchen + Mudroom
The kitchen feels so much bigger now! By taking down the wall between the dining and kitchen, we were able to open up this space and create a better flow throughout. Although this is a galley kitchen, there is plenty of space between the range wall and sink wall for lots of traffic and cooking to happen.
With the doorway widened, we were able to add cabinetry with a countertop overhang on the living room side which allows space for stools, acting like an island in the space.
On the other side of the kitchen, we removed the pantry closet and replaced it with built-in lockers and a bench under the window to create a drop zone and mudroom space off of the garage door (painted green).
This green is such a fun pop of color in the Deerwood Dream remodel!
This window bench allows the light to flow into the space, provides extra seating, and increases storage with the drawers for shoes. It’s a win-win all around!
By widening the doorway into the living room, this main level better sight-lines and allows you to now see the updated stone fireplace from the kitchen as well.
Mixing white and wood cabinetry and black and gold finishes gives the space a lived-in feel with warm tones and textures.
Continuing the Cambria quartz up from the countertops to the backsplash creates a seamless look and is also a great way to achieve a low maintenance space with no tile grout lines to clean.
Living Room
New stone going all the way up the fireplace makes the ceilings feel taller. We added a reclaimed wood mantle from Manomin Resawn Timbers, which pairs well with the natural look of the stone.
It’s so fun to look at this angle where you can see the living room, dining space, and kitchen all in one shot. The new layout works so well for this family to gather, hang out, and entertain.
Entry
Another portion of the Deerwood Dream remodel was an update to the stairs in the entry. Stoltz Remodeling did an amazing job with the combination of a wood rail, wood newel post, and black metal balusters.
Powder Bath
In the powder bath, we continued the green color from the garage door into the board and batten wainscot. The clients picked out and installed this fun floral wallpaper that gives the room personality.
A pedestal sink is a perfect solution to a smaller powder bath. The combination of black and gold continues in this space with the plumbing, lighting, and mirror finishes.
Deerwood Dream Upstairs Bathroom | Before + After
For the upstairs bathroom in the Deerwood Dream remodel, the layout stayed the same, but everything else was updated! Here is the before…
…and the after which feels so much bigger and brighter now!
We were able to add a double vanity for an additional sink in this space, which was an amazing addition as they family all shares this bathroom. To bring in a pop of green like downstairs, tile was installed as a backsplash on the back and side of the vanity – also helping with keeping water at bay.
Hexagon floor tiles provide an earthy base and pair well with the light wood of the vanity. Black plumbing fixtures add contrast to this otherwise more neutral space.
If you’re considering a main level or bathroom remodel, I’d love to connect with you!
