This Eclectic Traditional Refresh was one of my favorite projects from last year! It’s a perfect example of how you don’t need to demo your entire home to get a completely new look! The clients moved to Minnesota from out of state and wanted to bring their home out of the 90s and bring in their personal style. I loved hearing about the patterns, colors, and textures they wanted to incorporate.
Main Floor Bath
First up, let’s check out the main floor bath. Here’s what it looked liked before…
…and now! Quite the transformation. Adding wallpaper in an eclectic traditional style made such a statement in this bath. The new vanity from Build.com was a major upgrade and brings in a beautiful texture with the slat wood design.
The mirror shape fits the eclectic traditional vibe perfectly and is paired with new sconces to illuminate the space.
Dining Room
The dining room is one of the first rooms you see when you walk in the door, so we really wanted to make a statement in this space.
And that we did! This room turned out so wonderfully with the wallpaper on the ceiling, molding details on the walls, and all new furniture. We kept the chair rail around the room, but the clients added molding below and above, while painting the room in two different colors.
If you’re interested in adding wallpaper to your home, consider the ceiling! It’s a unique way to add a fun design detail and can be easier to install as you’re not working around doors and windows.
Playroom
This playroom had such a pretty window, but was lacking character with its beige walls and dated light fixtures.
Now this space really shines with a pretty blue gray above the beadboard and double sconces framing the window.
We wanted this room to feel playful and cozy, so we brought in a fun patterned rug and swivel chairs the parents can sit in while the kiddos play.
Laundry
Our goal for the laundry was to give this space an upgrade without changing the layout, countertops, or cabinetry.
By painting the cabinets and walls and swapping out the light fixture, it has a new look and feel!
Kitchen
The kitchen layout was working well, but the clients wanted to freshen up the room by replacing the backsplash, swapping out light fixtures, and bringing in a moody feel with a new cabinet color.
Homburg Gray is one of my favorite paint colors and looks perfect in this kitchen! Vintage inspired pendants add a unique detail over the island.
One of my favorite additions to this eclectic traditional kitchen are these barstools with a warm wood tone!
Square handmade looking tile in white brightened up the backsplash and added contrast between the countertops and cabinets.
Eat-In Kitchen
Right off the kitchen is an eat-in kitchen space, perfect for breakfasts and quick meals with the kids.
We incorporated a table that had been passed down in the family and updated this area with a new pendant chandelier and cane back chairs!
Living Room
The living room layout and fireplace stayed the same, but the plan was to give it a refresh with new paint and furniture.
Throughout the home, we went with a light and fresh with Eider White on the walls and contrasted the trim with Anew Gray, which works so well in the living room.
Deep green velvet swivel chairs are paired opposite the sofa with a dark wood scalloped coffee table anchoring the pieces.
Three Season Porch
This three season porch is such a perfect spot to enjoy the beautiful seasons in Minnesota that the clients were excited to experience in their move to a new state. In this room, we planned to swap out the fan and add furniture and a rug.
Now this room is ready to be enjoyed for years to come! An indoor / outdoor rug makes cleaning a breeze and grounds the space.
Additional Areas
We also refreshed a few additional areas in the home, including the front entryway, upstairs hallway, and office with new lighting, paint, and rugs!
I hope this eclectic traditional refresh was an encouragement to you that you don’t always have to undergo a full blown remodel to make your home feel completely different! It was so fun to help these clients bring their own style into their new home. If you’re interested in a refresh for your home, I’d love to connect with you!
